Thank you Veterans!

Although Thanksgiving is an important holiday this month and a time when we think about giving thanks, there is another holiday that we should give thanks.   It's Veterans Day!  We learned that Veterans Day is a day to honor those who served in the military.
We joined Mrs. casey's 5th grade class this afternoon and made Thank You cards for the Veterans of our country.

Box Turtle

We visited Mrs. Casey's @carriecasey 5th Grade classroom.   Their class has a visitng pet from the Butlington Science Center.  Box Turtles, Myrtle and Lulu welcomed us and let us hold them and watched them eat!  We learned that Box Turtles are endangered in Massachusetts and that they are omnivores.   Today they feasted on lettuce, tomatoes and apples.  We loved meeting our 5th Grade buddies and holding Myrtle and Lulu!

Buddy Reading

Elbow to elbow,
Knee to knee,
I can read to you,
and you can read to me!
Elbow to elbow,
Knee to knee,
Put the book in the middle,
So we can both see!

Welcome

My name is Maureen Schnee (pronounced Shah-nay)  and I have been part of the Burlington Public Schools since 2003.   I have been teaching Fourth Grade for 10 years.  I am so excited for the opportunity to teach second grade.  I have had a wonderful summer with my husband, Dave, and my two very active children, Caroline (5) and Caleb (1).   We spent some time down the Cape and with our family in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I am so excited to start this next adventure in second grade.  I look forward to meeting you and making it a successful year at Francis Wyman. Please do not hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns you may have.  See you soon in Room 212!
Happy New School Year!! -Mrs. Schnee
